Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We are developing a system for military use (foreign and US) that will require a wireless data link over water at a data rate of about 10 Mbps. The range needed is slightly longer than can be supported with equipment for the unlicensed bands
Special Temporary Authority application - Information
Callsign:
WE9XZN
Class of Station:
MO
Nature of Service:
Experimental
Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
A small remotely located boat about 11 m in length will acquire SONAR data to identify various underwater targets. In addition to the SONAR data, video cameras will be used to allow operators to confirm normal operation of the hardware on the remote boat that collects the SONAR data. The SONAR and Video Data will be transmitted to a larger manned ship at a range of a few miles (TBD but <10). The system is in development so the bandwidth is still not defined but we anticipate < 10mbps. We need a temporary capacity to test and demonstrate the system to confirm the design.
