("Itron"), we hereby request extension of the above—referenced Special Temporary Authority ("STA"), granted to Itron on September 16, 1996, which allows Itron to test new utility meter reading equipment that it is developing.! A check in the amount of $45.00 is attached hereto, to cover the ECC filing fee for this request. The subject STA is due to expire on December 13, 1996. Itron needs extension of the expiration date of the STA to cover the period between December 13 and the grant of the application, filed by Itron on September 19, 1996, for modification of its Part 5 license KA2XMJ. Grant of the modification application will provide Itron with experimental authority for its on—going electronic meter reading test program. However, until the KA2XMJ modification is granted, Itron needs the authority conveyed by the subject STA to continue its experimental program. Accordingly, for the reasons stated herein, Itron respectfully requests an extension of STA KS2XAI, to cover the period pending grant of Itron‘s application for modification of the license for KA2XMJ. 1 The STA was originally granted on August 12, 1996, under file number S—2566—EX—96. The STA was modified by the Commission on September 16, 1996, to include additional test locations.
