                                         Temporary Authority for KA2XMJ;
                                         File No. S—1037—EX—92

      Dear Mr. Wright:

EnScan, Inc. ("EnScan"), by its attorneys, hereby requests
an extension of its previously granted special temporary
authority ("STA") to use the 910—920 MHz frequency band
authorized under Part 15 for low—power communications device
transmissions to test a modified version of its encoder receiver—,
transmitter ("ER®") for utility meters. That STA, File No. S—
1037—EX—92 is currently set to expire on July 30, 1992. EnScan
respectfully requests a 60 day extension, until September 30,
      1992 .

The above referenced STA, granted on March 30, 1992
authorized for testing in the Chicago, Illincis area, at a higher
power level under Part 5 of the Commission‘s Rules until July 30,
1992. At this time, however, EnScan anticipates an additional
period of time to complete the crucial final stages of its
      testing.

EnScan certifies that neither it nor any party to this
application is subject to a denial of federal benefits pursuant
to Section 5301 of the Anti—Drug Abuse Act of 1988,
      21 U.S.C. § 853a.
