Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We are participating in a demonstration of Coalition Assured Autonomous Last Mile Resupply (CAAR) equipment at Camp Grayling Michigan for 3 weeks during August and are requesting temporary permission to use our radio data link between our mobile ground based Operator Control Station (OCS) and a VIKING Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV)

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  As part of the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and US Department of Defense (DoD) Coalition Assured Autonomous Resupply (CAAR) Collaboration , the CAAR Capstone Event, to be held between 12th - 29th August 2019, at Camp Grayling, Michigan, comprises a period of experimentation and demonstration of UK and US tactical logistic autonomous systems. The CAAR Capstone demonstration event (28th August 2019) is attracting senior military and civilian personnel from both the US and UK governments. We will be demonstrating our VIKING Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) driving scenarios withing approximately an 8km x 8km area at Camp Grayling. This experimental licence application is for our data link which carries live video, telemetry data and command and control for the vehicle. The datalink radios are 2W L Band NETNode-4R NETNode IP Mesh Radio Phase 4 (Robust) from Domo Tactical Communications Ltd. and is COFDM and tunable between 1.14 GHz and 1.5 GHz it can provide up to 14.6Mbps data within a bandwidth up to 10MHz. We are requesting temporary operation centered on 1280 MHz but could accept another center frequency if this is not possible / available. The vehicle mounted antenna will be approximately 6ft Above Ground Level (AGL) and the Operator Control Station (OCS) mast up to 35 feet AGL. We have also filled out a DoD form DD1494 and submitted that to Camp Grayling for local frequency deconfliction with their other activities. The transceivers will be operated within 4km of 44°36'35.7"N 84°50'57.1"W = 44.609925, -84.849187.

Is a directional antenna (other than radar) used?   No
Exhibit submitted:   No
(a) Width of beam in degrees at the half-power point:
(b) Orientation in horizontal plane:
(c) Orientation in vertical plane:
Will the antenna extend more than 6 meters above the ground, or if mounted on an existing building, will it extend more than 6 meters above the building, or will the proposed antenna be mounted on an existing structure other than a building?   Yes
(a) Overall height above ground to tip of antenna in meters:   10.50
(b) Elevation of ground at antenna site above mean sea level in meters:   391.00
(c) Distance to nearest aircraft landing area in kilometers:   10.00
(d) List any natural formations of existing man-made structures (hills, trees, water tanks, towers, etc.) which, in the opinion of the applicant, would tend to shield the antenna from aircraft: The area has a large number of trees which are of similar height to the antenna mast and the area is a military range so flying of aircraft is strictly controlled and managed by range control who will be fully aware of and direct our demonstration. Our mast is extendable up to 10.5m so we can adjust the height as and if required by the range.
