French law to forbid Wi-Fi in kindergartens
Friday 30 January 2015 | 11:30 CET | News

The French parliament has adopted a bill forbidding the installation of Wi-Fi in establishments
for children aged under 3 years, but not, as first drafted, in primary schools, announced
national frequencies regulator ANFR. Establishments offering public Wi-Fi access will now have
to display a symbol indicating its presence. The law calls for "sobriety, transparency and
consultation with respect to exposure to electromagnetic emissions." An information campaign
will be launched this year to urge the "reasoned and reasonable use" of mobile devices,
accessories such as hands-free kits. Mobile phone advertising will have to mention
recommended usage to limit exposure to the head.
