Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
An STA is necessary in order to permit the applicant to conduct video production operations at various sporting and news events including car races and baseball games in and near Los Angeles, and San Diego, California and near Phoenix, Arizona from the Goodyear Blimp, during the period August 10, 2012 through January 1, 2013. Normal video production activities in authorized LTTS bands pursuant to Goodyear licenses cannot be conducted at these events due to overcrowding by licensed broadcast auxiliary and CARS licensees in these markets.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Video production from the Goodyear Blimp of televised athletic and newsworthy events and automobile races. Video production from the Goodyear Blimp of televised athletic and newsworthy events and automobile races. This is similar to other STAs granted by the Commission numerous times in the past. Video transmissions will be from the Goodyear Blimp, to production trucks located at the site of televised athletic and newsworthy events and automobile races. As is always the case, all operation will be coordinated in advance with the frequency coordinators of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, and, in the Amateur Radio allocations, with the American Radio Relay League, Inc. Should any interference be reported, Goodyear operation will cease immediately and not resume until resolved to the satisfaction of the licensees affected. See also attached frequency coordination exhibit and Event exhibit.
