QUESTION #6: STATEMENT OF RESEARCH PROJECT

The authorization will permit the transmission of radio signals essential to a research
project. The radio signals will not provide communications between members of the
research team. The team will communicate using existing communication facilities such
as cellular phones and personal mobile radios.

The authorization will permit the research team to measure the effect of the proposed
low-power radio signal transmissions on incumbent television and wireless microphones.
We are requesting authorization to determine proper specifications for an emerging
Wireless Regional Area network standard under development by the IEEE. We will
determine whether transmissions at the proposed power levels and frequencies may have
a measurable effect on incumbent services. The research team does not currently have
authorization to transmit at any frequency near the TV band.
