Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This application is necessary for GA-ASI to collect data that is useful for designing airborne radars in the X band. The data will be analyzed and used to improve GA-ASI equipment design

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Collection of data that is useful for designing airborne radars in the X band. GA-ASI will fly its described equipment on manned aircraft at 5-10 kft elevation and collect data pertaining to different targets, clutter conditions, weather etc. For the 6 months period 4-6 flights are anticipated each lasting approximately 4 hours
