The goal of this research program is to build and test a ground taxi control system that utilizes a separate
data link from the aircraft primary C band/Ku band data links. The equipment includes Government
off-the-shelf radios operating at 1788 MHz. Performance of the aircraft response to commands and the
reliability of the data link will be assessed. Ground testing will be conducted at the Gray Butte airport near
Palmdale, CA. This program is not for flight and advances radio technology by demonstrating aircraft
control over a L band frequency.
