General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is in the business of
manufacturing and flight testing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that
have a broad range of scientific and military applications for the U.S.
Government. GA-ASI requests these frequencies to support ongoing
projects that will be conducted at the request of the Bureau of Immigration
and Customs Enforcement (BICE) under the U. S. Department of Homeland
Security. Currently GA-ASI in in possession of a Special Temporary
Authorization (File 0312-EX-ST-2003) that will expire on
February 25, 2004. The permanent license currently requested is necessary
to support a future anticipated contract with BICE.
