Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The STA will enable Fortem Technologies to test its low weight, low power prototype radar in order to refine its design before we apply for fcc certification and licensing of a detection and avoidance system. This STA is necessary to support work we propose to conduct at the proposed locations for a limited period of time.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  To test prototype ultra-small SWaP-C radar devices for commercial applications designed to detect and avoid airborne vehicles. We were advised by the FCC and FAA to test at 15.4-15.7 GHz which is allocated for Aeronautical Radionavigation. The tests will be directed by the engineering team at Fortem Technologies, which has operated in the past successfully under similar STA and Experimental Licenses. See, for example: WK9XPC, WL9XFD, and WK9XMW. This ultra-small SWaP-C radar has been designed to enable UAVs to detect and avoid other airborne vehicles, thus allowing them to safely fly Beyond Line of Sight. We will need to perform testing near our new company headquarters in Pleasant Grove, Ut and at two locations near Virginia Tech University. This testing will be directed by the engineering team which joined Fortem Technologies when the technology was purchased from IMSAR; the team has managed STA and Experimental Licenses in the past.
