FCC Form 442 Exhibit 2 Item 10 Explanation of Experiment The purpose of this experimental application is to obtain permission to conduct computer—telephony experiments on a wirelessly "wired" university campus. Specifically, a number of different experiments will be conducted on the University of California at Berkeley campus including evaluating the ability of persons with mobile handsets on the campus to use their handsets to access localized information such as directions to a specific building on campus. The experiment will also test the use of a new data transport protocol over CMRS spectrum which will provide valuable information in measuring the performance of data delivery and propagation characteristics of radio signals at various places and at various distances from a transmitter in a campus environment. As noted in item 5(c) mobiles will communicate within 2 km of the base station.
