Question 4: Directional Antenna Information
The TAC-4G system is a man-portable LTE cellular base station designed to provide quickly
deployable, broadband communications for the Department of Defense. For testing and
demonstration purposes the ELTA TAC-4G LTE cellular phone system will include two
antennas: a 16 dBi directional antenna and a 7 dBi omnidirectional antenna.
The half-power beamwidth of the directional antenna is 65 degrees in the horizontal direction
and 15.5 degrees in the vertical direction. The polarization of the directional and omnidirectional
antennas are +/- 45 degrees and linear vertical, respectively.
The antennas will either be mounted on a tripod or a soldier backpack such that the maximum
antenna height is 6 meters. The demonstrations will typically have a maximum antenna height of
2.5 meters.
