DroneShield (www.droneshield.com) seeks approval to operate two types of low power portable FMCW radars at its C-UAS test site in Warrenton, VA. RadarZero operates in K-Band and RadarOne operates in X-Band. The radars will be operated continuously to study long term performance. Intermittently, UAS owned and operated by DroneShield will be flown near the radars to study their tracking performance. The data collected will be used to optimize tracker and target classification performance for the C-UAS application. Most radar hardware and software has been optimized for traditional targets such as people, vehicles, manned aircraft, etc. so this project’s focus on detecting and tracking small consumer UAS during continuous operation at a fixed location is novel.
