Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
STA application is made hereby for beta testing of up to 210 units of a battery operated Digital Angel? (DA) product of dimensions comparable to those of a common cell phone. An STA is needed as the unit carries an on-board CDPD formatted cellular telecommunications modem approved by AT&T. Said modem is integrated by DA into a one-piece product (the ?unit?) also comprising certain sensors (also see Item 3, below). Said CDPD modem is the only broadcasting or receiving component, and is purchased by DA off-the-shelf from an external vendor. The integrated DA unit itself has not previously been tested by members of the public.
