The use of S-Band spectrum as proposed in this application is the test and characterization of
communications channels between the spacecraft and ground systems. The S-Band spectrum is also
used to test new RF electronics (i.e. modems, filters, amplifiers). Finally, the S-Band spectrum is used to
test new user terminal equipment (integrated assemblies consisting of satellite modems, filters,
amplifiers, antennas).
