Frequency Ranges

Per page 2 of Form 442 Question 6: Description of Research Project, all of the listed frequencies are in
MHz. The frequencies listed range from 2.1116 MHz to 27.4036 MHz for the HF side, 30.17 MHz to
75.975 MHz on the low-band VHF side and 136.0 MHz to 174.0 MHz on the hi-band VHF side.

Per your E-mail, we went through our filing and we could not find any references to 155 kHz or 27.4036
GHz. Please point us to where this information appears so that we can correct it.

ERP Power Level

With regards to the 4000 Watts ERP for the HF systems, this is based on 1000 Watts of RF with a typical
6 dB gain LPDA antenna (1000 Watts minus ~1 dB RF cable loss, plus ~6 to 7 dB antenna gain (x4) =
~4000 Watts ERP). Please note that this is the MAXIMUM power level which would only be used during
brief tests. The vast majority of time, we would not exceed 1000 Watts ERP. Tactical and strategic HF
systems often require 125W, 400W, 500W or 1000W power levels. Couple these to high gain antennas
and the result is a much higher ERP rating. If this exceeds permissible ERP levels, then please advise so
that we can update our submission and work with a lower ERP by reducing the gain of the antenna.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions,
