Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of this case study is to demonstrate the use of TVWS in promoting education and community development. We believe TVWS offers the best potential for connecting facilities currently divided from digital resources due to location. Whether it?s because someone is located in the middle of a remote rural environment or a low-income urban environment, Carlson Wireless and MAIN look to prove that TVWS is the necessary technology in bridging the divide. At the Mt. Mitchell State Park Education Center visitors and students are currently without broadband access to the internet and thus lack the resources that will both support learning, as well as visitor interest. At the urban center, connectivity means a way of providing the tools necessary to succeed. Without convenient access to the internet children, as well as adults looking for work, are disadvantaged and thus less likely to overcome their current economic situation. We look to make TVWS the first technology able to connect and promote these currently isolated facilities and thus create a model for connecting similar locations across the country.
