Request for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 1697-EX-ST-2017

                       NARRATIVE EXPLANATION OF OPERATION

This is a request for Special Temporary Authority to develop and test, over a six-month
period, at two manufacturer locations a Part 15 digital wireless intercom system based on the
DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard using the European DECT
frequency range (1880-1900 MHz). This device provides high-quality audio via digital wireless
portable beltpacks and associated access points. This system, which is known as ROAMEO, is
suitable for a wide range of professional intercom applications including broadcast production
studios, theater and sport event productions, churches and cathedrals, commercial buildings and
outside broadcast trucks. The device, once developed for United States use, is intended to be
operated in a different frequency range in the United States ultimately on an unlicensed basis in
accordance with Part 15 regulations.

The device has an occupied bandwidth of 1.24 MHz and operates at an average
conducted power of up to 83 mW for the access point and up to 17 mW for the beltpack. The
antenna for the beltpack is an internal, 0 dBi gain Inverted F antenna. The antenna for the access
point is a detachable dipole with 3 dBi gain.

The locations of the Bosch Security Systems, Inc. facilities at which these devices will be
deployed, and the “stop buzzer” contacts at each location are as follows:
