Aeronautical Radio Inc. (ARINC) on behalf of American Airlines herein requests an
experimental radio license to conduct testing from April 1, 2001 until December 31, 2001.
ARINC requests a radio license to operate a ground radio station to support a certification flight
test of a Rockwell Collins 920 multi mode radio installed on a B767-300 and to revalidate 8.33
voice functionality with new VDL mode II software installed.

The flight test will be conducted between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and
Tulsa International Airport (TUL) to demonstrate intelligible communications with the TUL
ground station, and Electro Magnetic Compatibility with aircraft systems while the aircraft is on
the ground. Testing is scheduled to be conducted at high altitudes, approximately 160 nautical
miles from TUL, and in various phases of flight and in circular turns.

ARINC is applying to utilize an FCC certified Park Air C8LB6350 ground station transmitter.
