Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
ATC will be conducting DAS transmission test using Sprint-Nextel frequencies. This is to locate the best possible locations to deploy DAS network systems. As per the attached, Sprint-Nextel has agreed to allow ATC to utilize Sprint-Nextel spectrum.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
In order to complete the testing under the below requirements, ATC must test the area to locate location to install and provide enhance service to Sprint-Nextel and other providers communication networks. Location: Martha?s Vineyard, MA ? Various locations in and around the western coast. Range: Tests will be conducted outdoor at approx. 40? at each location. Range for each is <.5mile Information on the organization requesting: American Tower. DAS division provides neutral host service for Indoor and Outdoor DAS applications. Equipment being used: BVS or equivalent Continuous Wave transmitter Power level of equipment: No greater than 40dBm(10W) ERP Antenna information: Decibel dual 1900/850 (0dBgain) omni or equivalent. Specific dates and times of testing: Testing during daylight hours between 6/1/09-6/15/09 How much spectrum is being requested: 1-2 SMR and 1-2 PCS not currently in use Example of the testing scenario: Testing is for propagation model studying for neutral host DAS design How does it benefit Sprint: Sprint currently uses many of our inbuilding systems. This would be an outdoor system shared by any interested wireless carriers. The information gathered for SMR and PCS will be used to design the system to adequately cover those bands. Should the system be built and Sprint decide to use it they would be assured of continuous coverage in the areas of design.
