I. QUANTITY REQUESTED
3000 pieces are requested for the purpose of gathering a comprehensive data set that will
be used to optimize the precision with which the units can be used to avoid collisions with
objects, test for lower probability real world traffic events, and demonstrate the technology. Each
vehicle will have 10 units so that total number of vehicles tested is only 300.
II. UNIT DEPLOYMENT
In addition to typical laboratory testing, the units will be mounted on passenger vehicle
chassis, with each vehicle requiring ten units. The plan is to conduct the experiment in private
test facilities, roads, vehicle access ways, and parking facilities in metropolitan areas.
III. UNIT RETIREVAL AT CONCLUSION OF TEST
For purposes of these experiments and the retrieval at the conclusion of the test, the units
will be operated under Alps control. A record of the vehicle VIN and corresponding unit serial
number will be maintained so that each unit will be accounted for and retrieved, if necessary, at
any point during testing. The point of contact from Alps Electric is:
