Mr. Young:

In reply to your inquiry dated June 8 (Ref. 42500), on behalf of my client ADC Automotive Distance
Control Systems, this is to confirm the following:

1. The number of transmitting units has been reduced to reflect the minimum number of units - 100 -
required to conduct the experiment during the next 6 month period under STA. During this period, it is
estimated that only 4 units would be needed for in-vehicle testing – these would be the only units
operated in an open-air/vehicular environment – other units would be operated in a
laboratory/indoor setting for purposes such as bench testing, engineering development and design
validation. Due to quality requirements and varying customer requirements sufficient sample sizes are
needed to obtain statistically significant data and test results. Given the power levels at which these
sensors operate at and the lab environment the sensors would be operated in, the chance of any
interference with other receivers is mitigated.

2. A new Exhibit 2 – Confidentiality Request – has been submitted to request
confidentiality for the information contained in the previously submitted confidential exhibit submitted on
June 7.

3. A new Public Exhibit 1 has been submitted to specify the Stop Buzzers for the experiment, as well
as a request for waiver of the Station ID requirements.

Please feel free to contact me with respect to any further questions on this application.

Best regards,

Jeff Rummel
Attorney for ADC Automotive Distance Control Systems
