Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The STA will enable Fortem Technologies to test its low weight, low power prototype radar in order to refine its design prior to requesting further licensing. The radar provides an Aeronautical Radionavigation / Radiolocation Service. We were advised by the FCC and FAA to test at 15.4-15.7 GHz . We have more testing to complete before we apply for FCC certification and licenses for our product. The radar will be mounted on a drone thus the need for mobile and antenna height of less that 400 ft. AGL This is necessary to support work we are currently doing on testing and demos.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
To test its low weight, low power prototype radar. This ultra-small SWaP-C radar has been designed to enable UAVs to detect and avoid other airborne vehicles, thus allowing them to safely fly Beyond Line of Sight. We will need to perform testing at selected sites for demos to government and other entities. This testing will be directed by the Fortem engineering team; the team has managed STA and Experimental Licenses in the past.
