Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The applicant, Portland General Electric Company (PGE), is building a wide-area private land mobile radio (PLMR) system using frequencies in the 217.00-217.50 MHz Automated Maritime Telecommunications Service (AMTS). Extension of STA (WM9XEA) is needed to continue operational testing until the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau modifies PGEs existing AMTS license for these locations (Call Sign WQZH595). Before commencing operation under its Part 80 license PGE is required by the Part 80 rules to analyze the potential for interference to reception of TV channels 10 and 13 in its area of operation. PGE submitted information to the FCC to demonstrate that there will be no interference to television reception, but is waiting for the Wireless Bureau to confirm through a modification of PGEs license (See FCC File No. 0008126782).
