Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
DRS Sustainment Systems requires a further extension of authorization for a period of six months or less to complete testing of the Blighter radar product for possible integration into Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) by the U.S. military. Additional testing, with Blighter personnel on site, is necessary to determine if the Blighter radar has sufficiently high detection performance to be reliable for CUAS operations. Blighter personnel were unable to travel for testing during the prior STA term, as they are based in the UK and were prevented from travelling due to the pandemic. Applicants U.S. government customers have need for radar products, but further testing of the Blighter product is necessary before it can be offered in connection with critical systems. It is anticipated that testing will be complete during the summer of 2021.
