Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Globalstar is already licensed for use of the communication frequencies. The only change from the currently licensed Globalstar operations is that the Globalstar constellation will be receiving transmissions from the FCC-approved module on a space station rather than communicating with this terminal from an Earth-based location. The Globalstar License does not cover space-to-space operation, thus requiring this request for Special Temporary Authority.

The purpose of this Special Temporary Authority is to allow the applicant to provide communications for the BSS1 CubeSat mission, STA FCC File BSS1 CubeSat mission, File 500-EX-ST-2020, CallSign WQ9XJJ. The objectives of the BSS1 project are presented in FCC File 500-EX-ST-2020.
