Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
- Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
- This STA is required to perform small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) flight demonstration for annual the TAAC UAS conference. This conference is where government entities, DOD, DHS, DOJ, DOI, the FAA, manufacturerers, and other interested entities get together to discuss the status of UAS operations in the national airspace system (NAS) and the required next step. Many of these participants have not seen or dealt with SUAS in operation and only understand the larger systems. This enables them to discuss the sUAS from the same perspective and understand the implications to natinoal security, border protection, crisis management and support for saving lives, and the potential risks.
