Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The KREPE research project developed by the University of Kentucky is designed to test atmospheric re-entry models and proposes to use three space capsules launched from the International Space Station (?ISS?). Each capsule will be equipped with a modem designed to communicate via the Iridium system during de-orbiting and eventual return to Earth. The University of Kentucky has applied for experimental authority covering transmissions from the capsules to Iridium?s space stations. Please refer to Exhibit 1.

Iridium asks that the term of its 180-day STA commence on July 1, 2021, when the capsules are scheduled to be launched. To accommodate the spacecraft launch integrator?s requirements for getting the KREPE system to the ISS, however, Iridium respectfully requests that its STA request be granted no later than April 1, 2021.
